I spent most of the day at the beach watching the big swelling waves get closer and closer to our stuff. We were pretty far back and watched as one by one all the umbrellas were engulfed by bigger and bigger waves. It happened gradually at first so people continued to be caught by surprise, jaws dropping as their coolers were swamped and umbrellas pulled back by the retreating surges. We left before a wave could get us too.

Then we watched an interesting take on the artificial intelligence theme called “EX Machina” . I should be fulfilled and ready to go to bed, but no, I can’t rest till I scrawl out some desperate cartoonic message. This time I will forego the usual penciling and just go for it. By the time you read this I will be asleep.

This officially (and mercifully) ends the Velvet Elvis In Pueblo Magico period. No more black paper anyway. Have a nice weekend. I think we have already dodged the first hurricane of the season. Whew. Only 16 more to go, if predictions are accurate.

Here is the inked in version (almost finished) of the first drawing for Baja Connect. Tomorrow I will try to finish the other one. Victor Sossa, our contractor, saw what I was working on and asked if I could come up with a logo design for him.  So maybe I can do enough labor exchange to get a few more jobs done on the casita. Maybe I could draw for fish tacos, body work on the two Toyota Previas, dentistry, gardening. The possibilities are endless, in my mind anyway.
