More earth tones and lighter spirits were in abundance for Todos Santos answer to Black Friday. This was the sale of the century in my few years of being a part-time citizen of this wonderful community and I found it a little overwhelming. There was “stuff” of every kind, to wear, to eat, to utilize, completely encircling the huge La Canada building. Throngs of people, families, kids, dogs, young, old, native, and gringo, selling and buying. I followed Gail’s advice and got something to eat and sat my butt down and watched the whirl of humanity pass me by. As I sat munching on one of Baja Biscuit’s excellent Breakfast Sandwiches (a bagel filled with spicy breakfast sausage, cheese, red onions, mushrooms, and eggs) I saw familiar and unfamiliar faces, exchanged pleasantries with friends and fielded questions, “MMM that looks good. What the heck is it?” After remaining stationary (except for chewing and talking) for 45 minutes or so, Gail, who had been on a mission, returned with her target item attached to our portable dolly. Mercifully it was time to go home, and I had ridden out another shopping experience relatively unscathed.

Before we left to go to this mega sale (some booths donated profits to local charities, BTW) Gail said, "I hope they have some furniture there. I want to get a nightstand for my side of the bed." Well there must be some truth to the ideas espoused by the writers of "The Secret" because she certainly attracted this piece of furniture by golly.

But it’s far from just consume, consume, consume. There’s lots of nice people to talk to and beautiful sights to see, as I will attempt to show you in the photos below.

And it's not even Christmas.

Beneath the sheltering palms.
